Annual Meeting (April 20th!) Issue

Winston Downs

Oops! The George Washington Homeowners Assn. annual meeting is April 20. And here's a link to the meeting Agenda that works: Read the Meeting Agenda here. Thank you Joyce and Mimi for catching my mistake - :)

In the last 20 years, I can't remember a time when there were more critical issues facing our little neighborhood; but having said that, there also has never been a time when our RNO (Registered Neighborhood Organization: "GWHOA") has been more effective in advocating for our interests. The Annual meeting is when many of us renew our GWHOA memberships (still $10 and completely voluntary).

In addition to hearing an update from our Board and The Denver Green School, you'll have an opportunity to meet and ask questions of our elected City Council Representative, Marcia Johnson. Councilwoman Johnson will play a key role in influencing the outcome of many large-scale projects which are in various stages all around us. Here are some of the major issues, along with links to more information:

Lowry Vista

This is the 80-acre "Brownfield" (i.e., contaminated) redevelopment across Alameda north of Windsor Gardens. Did you know it has already been re-zoned? This has become a contentious issue for us and surrounding neighborhoods. Read more here . . .

East Side Mobility Study

The East Side Travel Shed is the area between I-70 and Leetsdale Drive, from Monaco Parkway to Yosemite Street. It includes a diverse mixture of redeveloping neighborhoods and long-standing commercial and residential neighborhoods with various vehicular, pedestrian, bicycle and transit mobility challenges. Read more here . . .

Buckley Annex

Another huge (80 Acres) urban redevelopment right up the street from Winston Downs. Will it look a lot like Lowry? Yes. When (if ever) will they begin development? What about density and traffic and other impacts on surrounding areas? Find out more here . . .

Green School

We'll have a brief presentation at our Annual Meeting from our friends at The Denver Green School, but you might want to check out their website for more info . . .
