Denver Jazz Musicians

Denver Jazz Band
Denver Jazz PianoDavid Halterman started the Jazz Group in the summer of 2002.  "I had just finished a post-graduate Certificate in Jazz Studies at Denver's Lamont School of Music. That was a very practical program which was basically a 2-year-long version of what one might find in a Summer intensive like Aebersold's Jazz Improvisation workshops (which I have attended several times): theory, ensemble playing, private and semi-private instruction from internationasl-calibre players, performance opportunites, etc. I wanted to continue my professional development, and was realizing the importance of replicating those experiences and trying to surround myself with the best players possible. "

David is a graduate of The University of Denver's Lamont School of Music and has studied with such jazz luminaries as Eric Gunnison, David Hazeltine, Steve Allee, Andy LaVerne, Phil DeGreg, Todd Hildreth and Chris Fitzgerald.

The Denver Jazz Band members continue to perform regularly with other working bands, at local jazz clubs and a variety of private and public entertainment venues in the Denver area. The quartet fills the players' desire and need for artistic development away from the bandstand; provides an opportunity to work on stuff that probably couldn't be called on a typical 'pick-up band' gig; and even experienced players appreciate an opportunity to “woodshed” a tune that didn't go as well as it could have with another band last week . . .   The result is a classic jazz quartet dedicated to standards and contemporary jazz with a polished, professional sound. Your guests and clients will hear and appreciate the difference!
